Wilton Chef To Prepare Supper For Greenwich Historical Society

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Historical Society will take a page from history with an evening of food, conversation and music when it plays host to a Green Market Supper in Cos Cob.

Guests can stroll the same lush landscape that inspired works by the American Impressionists of the Cos Cob art colony from 6-9 p.m. on June 26 at Cos Cob’s Bush-Holley House, 39 Strickland Road.

Dina Andrews, a farmer with The Hickories’ Community Supported Agriculture in Ridgefield, will walk guests through the site’s period vegetable garden to talk about local farming, gardening trends and historic influences on modern-day menus.

Cocktails and dinner – set to the mellow groove of Classical guitarist Edward Wright -- will be prepared by award-winning chef Tim LaBant of the Schoolhouse at Cannondale restaurant, 34 Cannon Road in Wilton.

An early proponent of the "local and seasonal" movement, LaBant is renown in Connecticut for his “farm-to-table” style. LaBant and Andrews have a close working relationship, and many of the items on the evening's menu will come directly from The Hickories farm.

Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. followed by a family-style dinner at 7 p.m. The evening is open to adults only with seating limited to 70 people.
