Meet Monroe's Very Own American Ninja Warrior At Bethel Event On Saturday

MONROE, Conn. --- Joe Moravsky always wanted to be a professional athlete. He also wanted to be a meteorologist. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he could do both.

"I've been very fortunate," said the Monroe resident, who, soon after graduating from college, sent in a submission to compete for "American Ninja Warrior."

That was in 2013 and -- since being "Last Man Standing," going further than any other athlete in the country in 2014 and being top seven every year he has competed -- he's now on the Ninja Warrior circuit. He basically competes/does events from March to September and trains/promotes events the rest of the year.

In between, the Sherman native serves as a part-time replacement weatherman on News12 Connecticut. Hence, his Warrior nickname, "The Ninja Weatherman."

"It's cool because I get to live in both worlds -- weather and sports," he said.

In fact, there's talk of the Ninja sport going Olympic.

In the meantime, he's part of The Wolfpack Ninja Warrior tours that travels the country.

Moravsky can also be found at the Rock Climb Fairfield and GCA of Fairfield and at Vasi's International Gymnastics in Newtown where he often trains.

While the physical side is a big component of his success, he said the mental is just as important --  and something he prides himself on.

"My biggest asset, I would say,  is my passion and my competitive nature for competing," he said. "Not many people are more competitive -- and I say that very competitively."

Fairfield County residents can meet Moravsky on Saturday, July 15 at the opening of the new Warrior Course at SkyZone Bethel.
