Actor From Wilton Joins Cast of 'Meet Me In St. Louis' At Curtain Call

STAMFORD, Conn. – “Meet Me in St. Louis,” a beloved MGM musical and now a stage production, comes to Stamford for the first time. It will play on Curtain Call's Kweskin Theatre stage with its opening on Friday, Nov. 14.

Based on The Kensington Stories by Sally Benson and the MGM motion picture, this production will be directed by Gail Yudain of Stamford, with choreography by Emily Frangipane of Norwalk, and music direction by Eric K. Johnston of New York City.

The rest of the production team includes set design by Peter Barbieri Jr. of Fairfield, lighting design by Aaron Meadow of New York City, and costume design by Mary Joan Wright of Trumbull.

Travel back to the turn of the 20th century when the World's Fair is coming and so are changes for the Smith family. While the two older sisters dream of happily-ever-after with their beaus, the two younger girls dream up mischief. The score by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane includes the beloved standards "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "The Boy Next Door," and "The Trolley Song." This nostalgically romantic production is perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

“And speaking of family, we have actual father and son, Bill and Levi Squier of Stamford, playing father and son,” said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director. “We also have two other parent and child pairings – Poppy and Robie Livingstone of Westport, and Nick and Katie Priscott of Stamford.”

As a professionally run, community-based organization, Curtain Call encourages family participation in its productions; Ursone’s wife is the volunteer stage manager for the production.

Others in this cast of 32 include, from Stamford: Kristina Delelle, Tommy DeSalvo, Mary Fairbank, Liz Harrington, Jerry Kranz, Michael Kraus, Olivia Lapine, Sean Pultz, Elizabeth Riordan and William Strong; from Darien: Grace Cashman; from Norwalk: Catherine Cavender and Bob Kline; from Fairfield: Laura Carron, James Hisey and Kalle Meehan; from New Canaan: Dana Posner; from Wilton: Julia Foodman; from Redding: Clara Blackwell; from Trumbull: Cathy Cordaro; from Stratford: Becky Craig; from Weston: Janna Sturgis; from Danbury: Sophie Rundhaug; from Mamaroneck, N.Y.: Nathalie Parker; from Greenwich: Steven Kelly; and from Westport: Seth Barkan.

“I always try to have a big, family-style musical at least once a year – especially around the holidays,” Ursone said about this five-week run that will play through Dec. 13. “We even start the show a half hour earlier at 7:30 p.m. to accommodate younger audience members."

Performances of "Meet Me In St. Louis" will play Friday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. will also be offered. Two Thursday evening performances – Dec. 4 and 11 – are scheduled.

Curtain Call launched its 24th season in September with just over 1,000 subscribers so many dates are already filling up. Ticket prices for most performances are $32 for adults, $24 for senior citizens and $16 for students/children. Thrifty Thursday price: all seats $22.
