It will be held Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school and church parking lot at 1186 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

The church and school will host more than a half-dozen local and national organizations whose nonprofit efforts reduce waste in local landfills.

Everyone is invited to donate gently used items from doors, furniture and appliances to unwanted paper, sports equipment, clothing and electronics.

“Coming together and helping others in need is so important in our immediate and larger community. We are anticipating a terrific turn out for this first time event of transforming our parking lot into a one day Recycle-O-Rama hub for Stamford and surrounding towns,” said the Rev. Bert Pinciaro, pastor of the church of St. Cecilia.

Data Shredding Services will dispose of unwanted documents; Stamford-based Friends of Ferguson Library will collect books, CDs and DVDs to support their library programs; Kids Helping Kids Connecticut and Northeast Community Cycles will accept sports equipment and bicycles respectively; Clothing Drive Fundraiser.com will accept used clothing and toys; Green Monster will dispose of unwanted electronics including video games, ink cartridges, cell phones and computers; and Fairfield County’s Habitat for Humanity will accept doors, appliances, furniture and more.

A comprehensive list of acceptable items, packing instructions and exact times each organization will be on site can be obtained on the St. Cecilia Church website here
