Hilary Berger of Work Like a Mother hosts the program called "Close the Gap: Resume Development, Interviewing and the Elevator Pitch" at the Wilton Y. The classes run from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Feb. 24, March 10, 17 and 31.

"Organizing a household takes many skills, and many of those skills can be transferred directly to the business place from the home," representatives said. "In a series of meetings Berger will show how these experiences can easily be shaped and targeted to a professional position or specific job opening."

Berger created the program that allows mothers to gain personal insight, and is a new way of looking at their own employability, representatives said.

“Having a current resume is empowering, it is a way to validate the professional self that exists inside you,” said Berger. “The role of a full time parent can take every minute of every day, and there never seems to be enough time for it all, but if a stay at home mother can carve out a bit of time for herself, to seek continual intellectual and professional growth, and have a long-term plan in place, then as the dynamic of parenting changes she can redirect her focus. By highlighting her unique skills, she can then begin to find a sense of purpose outside the needs of the family, as the demands of parenting permit.”

The fee for the four sessions is $195 for Y members and $295 for non-members. Optional career assessments are available for an additional fee of $80. Seating for classes is limited and reservations with payment in advance are required.
