“Now it is time for the innovators to show us what they can do," said Susan Lauricella, head of teen services and maker space coordinator. The event will feature more than 25 workshops, demonstrations, presentations and exhibitions that foster "outside the box" thinking, ingenuity and do-it-yourself inspiration and motivation.

The library has invited makers from around the region to demonstrate and exhibit their interests.

The event will feature demonstrations from the Fairfield County Makers Guild and the Greater Norwalk Amateur Radio Club as well as a student-designed jet engine turbine, new open-source robotics and a post-disaster balloon that visually documents affected areas.

The Wilton Library teen robotics team will demonstrate its robot, and the Young Makers Club will show its creations.

Innovation Day will also host activities such as a balloon animal workshop, a tech sandbox, 3-D Doodler, soldering stations, die-cutting and demonstrations of printmaking, quilling, kokedama, cupcake decorating, quilting and embroidering.

Innovation Day is a free event. Food will be sold outside by The Pizza Truck and Phil & Tom Ice.

Bankwell in Wilton and 3-D printer manufacturer MakerBot are sponsoring the event.
