WILTON, Conn. — Wilton residents will have the chance to enjoy works of art produced by their friends and neighbors during the Wilton Library’s annual Summer Show Art Exhibition, which opens Friday night.

Now in its 69th year, the exhibit allows resident artists the opportunity to show off up to two of their pieces. This year’s show features more than 130 works of art from 70 residents.

“This show is always a favorite in the town,” said exhibit curator Ed MacEwen, the library’s art director. “Each year, the show gets a little bigger, with more and more artists interested in showing what they have been working on during the cold weather months.”

Works featured in the exhibit range from oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings, to pastels, charcoal drawings and sculptures.

“The fun part about the Summer Show is that whether a person is an accomplished artist or just dabbles in it in his or her spare time, their entries are welcomed,” said library communications director Janet Crystal. “It’s really great to see the hidden talents of friends and neighbors.”

The exhibit opens Friday with a public reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The majority of works on display will be available for purchase. A portion of any pieces sold will benefit the library.

The exhibit will run through Friday, Aug. 30. Viewing hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road.
