STAMFORD, Conn. - Fitness can be fun. Just ask Moore Physical Therapy and Fitness' strength and performance coach, Jonathan Hudak, who will be integrating games such as "Red Light, Green Light" into his workout routines for children this month.
Under his direction, little ones will also run, skip and jump around in what he calls a "structured play setting."
Its all part of Moore Physical Therapy and Fitness new program, Young, Healthy and Fit, which is aimed to get kids excited about becoming active. And Hudak understands that wont happen if he asks them to jog around a track or do 100 push-ups.
You cant treat them like little adults, said the Wilton resident. The big thing to remember is that you have to adjust the workout to each kid. One kid might not be good at catching and throwing while another might be.
On May 24, the companys location at 24 Harvard Ave. in Stamford will host its Young, Healthy and Fit seminar. There, Hudak will speak to parents on how the mechanics of movement can instill confidence in teens.
Dr. Amy Cram, an associate for Stamford Pediatric Associates, will also offer her advice on the subject and Jamie Lee McIntyre, who is a dietitian for ShopRite, will suggest healthy snacks and meals for kids.
Our goal to give the kids a really good foundation of movement and skills they can use down the road, to stay active and fit, said Hudak.
Jonathan Hudak is the newest member of the Moore Physical Therapy and Fitness team. Before starting there last month, he was a strength and conditioning coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY.
