Held along Main Street in Georgetown—which is located in the corners of Wilton, Weston, Ridgefield and Redding—the festival draws residents from all around Fairfield County. Organizers say the event gets more popular every year.

The festival features a variety of activities for adults and children alike, including a chili cook-off, a hot-dog-eating competition, a dunking booth, a beer tent for visitors 21 and older, face painting, a bouncy house and more.

There will also be various vendors selling arts, crafts, clothing and jewelry, live music by local bands, and of course, plenty of food.

The day’s festivities unofficially begin with the annual Georgetown Gallop, a 5K race organized by the Wilton Family YMCA and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce. The race travels along Old Mill Road and ends on Main Street, where crowds form to cheer on the runners.

Now in its eighth year, the 3.1-mile Gallop begins at 11 a.m. Check-in will begin at 10:15 a.m. outside Mini Vinny’s Delicatessen, located at Routes 57 and 107 at 12 Old Mill Road.

The 5K will be followed by the Pony Express kids fun run. The entry fee for the Gallop is $20, and the kids fun run is $10. To register in advance, click here.

After the races, the festival will open its doors to a hungry crowd.

The Georgetown Day Festival is sponsored by Georgetown Village Restoration Inc., the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, the Joel Barlow Wrestling Team and the Georgetown Lions Club.
