“I am honored for the opportunity to serve the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum. The Museum is a true gem in the heart of Norwalk,'' Arton said. "I look forward to helping the museum to further establish its prominence along the West Avenue corridor as it continues to open its beautiful doors to the community and region through preservation activities and educational programs.”

Arton currently is the community outreach administrator for the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency. In this role she has applied for and received over half a million dollars in grant funds for the recovery of Norwalk’s homes from Superstorm Sandy.

She also assists in the administration of the Community Development Block Grant allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“We are thrilled that Hunter Arton is joining the Museum’s Board of Trustees,” said Lockwood-Mathews Museum Chairman Patsy Brescia. “Ms. Arton’s community outreach and fundraising experience will be of great service to the Mansion and the Board as we continue to build support for this National Historic Landmark.”

Arton volunteers at Person-to-Person in Norwalk and previously volunteered at Stamford Hospital. She recently completed training and joined Wilton’s Community Emergency Response Team.

Prior to moving to Connecticut, Arton was the assistant director for Student-Athlete Academic Counseling at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She earned her master's degree in community counseling and bachelor's degree in sociology and health and exercise science from Wake Forest. Arton resides in Wilton with her husband, Michael.
