The citizens received the honor during the 2013 Wilton Community Celebration at Rolling Hills County Club. The recipients of the awards each "demonstrated longstanding exemplary service to the town and contributed in a major way to the quality of life in Wilton," according to a release.

The first recipient, Erin Woolard, has been active as a volunteer for more than 25 years as in classrooms and projects at every grade level and created the Outdoor Learning Center at Miller/Driscoll.

The second recipient, the Wilton Education Foundation, received the honor for the work of hundreds of volunteers who have enriched the learning experience for students, supported the professional development of teachers, and provided innovative programs "beyond the classroom," representatives said.

The Wilton Community Celebration is an annual benefit for Wilton Family Y outreach initiatives and was sponsored by Bankwell. For more information about the Wilton Community Celebration or the Distinguished Citizen Awards, contact Bob McDowell at 762-8384 x 280 or bmcdowell@wiltonymca.org.
