The funds, raised during the Wahoos 40th anniversary celebration, will help Connecticut families displaced by Hurricane Sandy last year. Some of the funds will also go toward local need-based swim scholarships, according to a statement from the Y.
During the anniversary celebration, two coaches and seven swimmers who qualified for Olympic trials were inducted into the Wahoo Hall of Fame. The celebration also included a live and silent auction, through which the donated funds were raised.
Earlier this month, the Wilton Wahoos National Men’s team won the 2013 YMCA Short Course National title. The women finished eighth and the team placed fourth overall in Greensboro, N.C.
