WILTON, Conn. – Longtime Wilton resident Christina Foley joined the staff of the Wilton Family Y as coordinator of the special needs programs, the Y announced Friday.

A 22-year Wilton resident, Foley is the mother of three children and a longtime community volunteer who has taken on leadership roles with rowing, tennis and soccer groups, Cub Scouts and preschools. She also helped with the development of the playground at Merwin Meadows.

“I am thrilled to be on staff at the Y, and my goals are to facilitate the outreach and collaborations the Y has built over the years with families, schools and other community groups to enhance and expand the programs and resources available for residents with special needs,” Foley said in a statement.

“I’m very anxious to hear from people in the community as to their ideas on how the Y can better serve families and children who have physical, mental or emotional challenges.”

Foley worked in planning, human resources, sales and fundraising at Xerox and Gartner Group. She was also a substitute teacher in the Wilton school system. In 2005, she became a special educational paraprofessional and helped lead the high school’s Best Buddies program for eight years.
