The 15th annual SpinOdyssey event in Stamford benefits breast cancer research and raised a total of more than $201,000 with 350 riders from Fairfield County participating.
Wellness professionals and team members from the YMCAs of Westport/Weston, Wilton, New Canaan and Darien all participated in the event. As a result, each Y received a donation of $1,000 from SpinOdyssey to support their cancer exercise survivor programs.
The Wilton Family Y's Livestrong Cancer Rehab program is open to anyone at any stage of cancer treatment. It includes a free three-month membership at the Y and a series of personal training sessions with certified staff in the Y’s Fitness Center.
One of the largest indoor cycling charity events in the United States, SpinOdyssey has raised more than $4 million for the American Cancer Society’s research and support services for patients and their families over the years.
Registration fees and merchandise sales from the local event benefit Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center and Smilow Family Breast Health Center.
