The church's pastor, the Rev. Reginald Norman, will be at the train station from 5:30 to 7 a.m. to distribute ashes in celebration of Ash Wednesday. Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church serves more than 1,700 families in Wilton and is located on Route 7 across from Wilton Town Hall.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent, a period marked by penance, reflection and fasting. Lent ends 40 days later on Easter Sunday, when Christians believe Jesus Christ was resurrected.
Ashes are a symbol of penance, humility and sacrifice and a reminder that "man is dust, and unto dust you shall return."
The church is located at 229 Danbury Road in Wilton. To learn more about the parish, call 203-762-3928 or visit the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church website.
