WILTON, Conn. A decorated World War II vet will describe his experience of landing on Omaha Beach and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge at the next regular luncheon meeting of the Wilton Kiwanis Club .
The meeting takes place Wednesday, April 18, at the WEPCO Complex, located at 48 New Canaan Road in Wilton.
Bob Bradicich joined the Army right out of high school in 1943. After training as a rifleman, he landed on Omaha Beach just 21 days after D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Huertgen Forest in Germany and the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and Luxembourg. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His experiences are detailed in his memoir, World War II as I Lived It.
After the war, Bradicich completed his education at New York University, got married and went to work first at Aramco and then IBM, where he had a 30-year career. Bob and his wife currently live in North Carolina.
Bradichich will begin his talk at 1 p.m., but the public is welcome to join the Kiwanis meeting at 11:45 a.m. for lunch. A charge of $15 is due for those who attend lunch.
