Young's Nurseries is launching its fall series of free classes and lectures on practical landscaping, gardening, horticulture and decorative topics that are designed to be informative as well as entertaining. Established in 1930, Young’s is a Wilton landmark with a staff of horticultural experts.

“Over our 80-plus year history, we’ve amassed a staggering amount of information on everything from plant care to landscape design," said Young's Managing Partner Dave Gindek. "We initiated a program of free classes, seminars and outings last spring to share that knowledge.”

Today, from 1 to 2 p.m. the topic will be changing over pots from summer to fall.

On Sept. 27, gardeners can learn about putting a garden to bed and it, too, will be from 1 to 2 p.m.

There are a pair of lectures in October with the first, "Oktoberfest," on Oct. 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. The "Best of the Würst" will be grilled and there will be ciders, doughnuts and more. There  will be pumpkin-painting and bobbing for apples for children.

On Oct. 25 children can make a pinecone feeder during the lecture on what to feed birds.

On Nov. 22, children ages 3 to 5 can be involved with making ornaments from 1 to 2:30 p.m. From 3 to 4:30 p.m. there will be wreath making for children age 6 and up. Parents who attend will be given a coupon toward a purchase from the Christmas Shop.

Young's Nurseries is located at 211 Danbury Road in Wilton. Call 203-762-5511 or visit the website for more information.
