WESTPORT, Conn. — Roger Muchnick, a Staples High School graduate from Westport, was among seven Marines killed in a mortar explosion in Nevada Monday, Dan Woog reports on his 06880 blog. 

The Marines died when the round blew up during a live-fire exercise, according to NBCNews.com. Eight other Marines were injured.
