Bethel Man Charged in Wilton Burglary

WILTON, Conn. – A 33-year-old Bethel man was arrested early Monday morning and charged with breaking into Wilton Pizza , police reported.

Bryan Swift was taken into custody following an accident on Danbury Road in Georgetown. Police said he had driven off the road near the Town and Country Patio Shoppe, gone through the store parking area and damaged property.

“In his possession at the time he had crack cocaine and marijuana and he was also charged with a DUI,” Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo said. Swift refused to be tested with an Intoximeter, which police use to determine blood alcohol levels, police said.

Swift broke into the pizzeria around 6 a.m. Monday, then fled, according to Wilton Police . When officers arrived they found blood at the scene, Lombardo said. Police said nothing was taken from the pizzeria.

Lombardo said police were busy processing the burglalry scene and also patrolling looking for Swift. “They wanted to apprehend him and make sure that they found him before he did something else,” Lombardo said.

Swift was also being charged with assault in connection with a Bethel incident that occurred earlier Monday and late Sunday, according to Lombardo. The chief said he had little information on the Bethel case because it was still an open investigation for that department.

He was held on a $100,000 bond and was given a court date of April 17.
