WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Historical Society will host the Booked for Lunch group on Tuesday, June 10.

The group will discuss "Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin" by Jill Lepore from noon to 2 p.m., at the Wilton Historical Society, 224 Danbury Road. Lepore is a professor of American history at Harvard and a staff writer at The New Yorker magazine.

"The Wilton Historical Society is launching a reading group that will focus on books with a historical bent," representatives said. "Book of Ages' delivers a revealing portrait of Benjamin Franklin’s youngest sister, Jane, who spent much of her life cooking, cleaning and raising children. Despite obscurity and poverty, Jane shared a lot of her brother’s talents: She was a passionate reader, a gifted writer and a shrewd political commentator."

The event will be the launch of the Booked for Lunch group.

“There are so many vibrant personalities and stories – the very best biographies and historical accounts, the ones our group will be reading, are as compelling as any novel” said Leslie Nolan, director of the Wilton Historical Society, and a member of the group. “We hope we will have enough interest to meet two or three times a year.”

Lepore’s previous books include “New York Burning: Liberty, Slavery, and Conspiracy in Eighteenth-Century Manhattan," which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
