Danbury Man, 20, Charged With Selling Drugs With Child In Home

DANBURY, Conn. - After months of investigation, Danbury police with SWAT and K-9 officers arrested three people Wednesday on charges of buying and selling large quantities of drugs, police said.

The investigation began after several residents complained to police that they suspected drugs were being sold in the house on North Street, police said.  

While doing surveillance at the house Wednesday before executing several search warrants, officers saw 21-year-old Ryan Berry of Danbury go into the house in a manner that led them to believe he was purchasing drugs, police said.

Berry was charged for possession of narcotics by the surveillance team as he left the house. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

The search warrants were executed soon after the arrest, police said. During the search of the home of 20-year-old Christopher Walker of Danbury, officers found a substantial quantity of illegal drugs and thousands of dollars in cash, police said. 

While in the house, officers saw that 38-year-old Nakisha Taft, Walker's mother and grandmother to Walker’s 2-year-old child, was also present with the child, police said. Drugs were in plain view and accessible to the child, police said.

Taft was charged with risk of injury to the child and released on a written promise to appear in court. 

Walker was taken into custody and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of public housing, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of public housing, sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics with in 1,500 feet of public housing, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school, risk of injury to a child, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with in 1,500 feet of a school, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

He was held on $150,000 bond. No court information was released by police.
