DARIEN, Conn. It was a bright sun-shiny day for the seventh Annual Darien Collector's Car Show and families showed up to ogle the cars that spread out across Tilly Pond Park.
With more than 120 cars showing, show runner, Charlie England said its the best year theyve had for people coming to show their classic cars.
The people who come, only come to see the really interesting cars, England said. There are some really unbelievable cars here.
And since Sunday was Fathers Day, fathers came out to see the unique and antique cars that settled themselves on the grass for three hours.
One father brought his 19 year-old son and their 1913 Model T to the Darien car show. Casey ONeill said that his father bought the Model T around two years ago off E-Bay and brought it home in a U-Haul. The shock wasnt that his father had bought the car but, seeing it come out of the U-Haul. It was the most amazing thing, it looked like it was coming out of a time machine.
Around 90 percent of the nearly 100 year old car is original, ONeill said. He thinks the tires were probably the only new parts.
With his new-to-him 1924 Ford Sedan, Stamford resident Ceasar Latte said that people who show their cars will take them pretty far to show them off. Although the Darien show is more local, drawing cars from mostly Fairfield County, it is still a big thing.
Its a lot of fun. You come to a show and see your friends, look at the cars and meet new friends, Latte said.
Bobbie Murray and her husband Tom came from Rowayton to show their two cars, Fay and Nonie, named after Bobbies mother and her friend who both lived to 99.
We have fun, Murray said.
