Fairfield County Residents Step Out At Women's March On Washington

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The crowds were huge Saturday at the Mall in DC as over a half-million people stepped off for the Women's March on Washington. And Fairfield County was well represented at the event.

Elise Benedict, a graduate of Newtown High School and a Stamford resident, shared some of her photos from the event.

Throngs of people marched Saturday, a day after Donald Trump was inaugurated as the nation's 45th president. The event in Washington was the main event, but hundreds of sister marches were held across the world.

Participants say they are deeply worried about the Trump administration and its impact on women's rights and civil liberties.

Marches were also held throughout the nation, including in Stamford, Hartford, New York City, White Plains and Boston.
