Mayer, a Grammy-winning guitarist and singer, grew up in Fairfield. He performed Sunday night with the Dead & Company, which is a Grateful Dead offshoot.

Bandmate Bob Weir posted a photo on Twitter with Mayer, saying, “Wishing a speedy recovery for John. Get well soon my friend.”

“John, get well soon brother!” bandmate Oteil Burbridge posted on his Twitter.

The tour with the Dead & Company was expected to finish up Friday in Sunrise, Fla. There has been no word on the Dec. 7 and 8 concert dates.
