FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Here's a look at the top stories from last week across Fairfield County.

Connecticut State Police seized nearly $250,000 worth of illegal fireworks, enough to four trailers, in a bust at a home in Danbury. Officers found an "extraordinary amount of illegal fireworks, explosives and IEDs, including M-Class devices," State Police said in a statement. 

Rebecca Draper Townsend, 17, of Brookfield, was killed and a 17-year-old boy from New Fairfield was seriously injured when they were struck by a car while crossing Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury from the Stop & Shop parking lot to the Stanziato’s Wood-Fired Pizza at 9:24 p.m. Thursday, Danbury police said.

The Ridgefield Police Department is warning of a new Facebook scam that someone unsuccessfully tried to pull on a town resident involving a fake friend and an attempt to get money.  

The days of not being able to find a parking space at Redding's Mark Twain Library are finally over. The library just completed a project that doubled the existing number of parking spaces, adding 19 spaces for library patrons.

Bridgeport police officers will be assigned to walking beats in the city's four public housing complexes, including at Trumbull Gardens, where a shooting in June left one man dead and eight others injured.
