Ketley to Lead Wilton Police Commission Briefly

Mark Ketley is approaching his 10th anniversary on the Wilton Police Commission, which means he will have to step down because of term limits. But he will go out on top.

Fellow commissioners Matt Mason and Chris Weldon recently elected Ketley to be chairman of the commission until he resigns in March.

"I appreciate the trust of my fellow commissioners," Ketley said in a phone interview. He has served the Wilton community for the past 18 years, with eight years on the Parks and Recreation Commission before filling an opening on the Police Commission. This will be his first stint as chairman; he has been vice chairman of both the Parks and Recreation and Police Commissions.

Even though his term as chairman will be short, Ketley does not plan on just sitting back until March. He said the commission has many tasks to complete, including filling two openings on the police force.

A main function of the chairman is to work with Police Chief Michael Lombardo, and Ketley said the two of them have a great relationship. They worked together to hold a Youth Police Academy for high school students.

Ketley will serve as chairman for the commission's meeting in February before stepping down in March. In addition to his police commission position, Ketley is also the executive director of Trackside Teen Center.
