Metro-North Fined Record $250K In 'Retaliation' Case

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Metro-North was slapped with a $250,000 fine as the result of intimidation and retaliation reported by an employee, according to newstimes.com.

The fine was issued after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigated reports that a Metro-North employee was retaliated against after reporting a workplace injury three years ago, newstimes.com reported.

The railroad has said it has a zero-tolerance policy toward retaliation for reporting workplace injuries, newstimes.com said. 

The fine is the largest ever assessed under the Federal Railroad Safety Act, newstimes.com said.
