TCC is the only organization focused exclusively on the LGBTQ community in Fairfield County. It provides support groups and services to thousands of people across the state to help with issues such as mental health, homelessness, substance abuse, as well as social events and activities.

“I’m overwhelmed with happiness on this historic occasion,” TCC Executive Director Anthony Crisci said about the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling stating that states cannot ban same-sex marriage.

TCC will celebrate the decision with a party Friday night at Trevi Lounge, 548 Kings Highway Cutoff in Fairfield. Click here to RSVP.

“This decision will bring joy to families across the United States for generations to come. This is about progress and about true equality under the law," Crisci said.

TCC said that the ruling represents a shift in the country's attitude toward same-sex marriages in recent decades. Many states, including Connecticut, already allow same-sex couples to marry, and the Supreme Court's recent decision will now extend that right across the nation.

Many issues still remain for the LGBTQ community, and organizations such as TCC will continue to advocate for nondiscrimination and social services.

“The LGBTQ community needs to continue the fight for lived equality, as well as legal equality,” Crisci said. “The LGBTQ community faces higher rates of workplace discrimination, substance abuse, suicide, and isolation than its peers. What we do at TCC, and what others do at organizations like ours across the country, is to continue the fight for equality in our day-to-day lives—not just in our statutes and laws.”

TCC was founded in 1990 and is located at 618 West Ave. in Norwalk.
