Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train At Fairfield Station

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A pedestrian, believed to be a female, was killed after being struck by a train at the Fairfield Metro-North station late Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

The incident, which occurred around 5 p.m., involved an eastbound Amtrak Train and occurred east of the Fairfield Train Station on Track 4, according to a report by the Hearst Connecticut Media Group.

In a statement just before 6 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department said it had "no information on the cause of the accident at this time."

The incident has resulted in a disruption of service at the Fairfield station, according to Metro-North and a tweet by Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara.
