Power Outage Strikes Wilton After Heavy Rain

UPDATED: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Heavy rain and strong winds late Wednesday afternoon left power outages, closed roads and delayed trains in its wake.

Metro-North was reporting that trains on the New Canaan Branch were stopped after 6 p.m. due to a downed tree and a power outage in the vicinity of the Talmadge Hill station. Commuters were urged to find another form of transportation.

Eversource was also reporting the following power outages at the same time: 

  • Darien: 15 customers
  • New Canaan: 2 customers
  • Norwalk: 739 customers
  • Stamford: 92 customers
  • Wilton: 4 customers
It was not clear when the outages would be restored or when the trains would be back on schedule.

Also, the Norwalk Police Department was reporting the following road closures, due to downed trees and wires: 

  • Redcoat Road
  • West Cedar Street between Boulder and NCTC 
  • Scribner Avenue
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
  • Ponus Avenue
