Fentanyl bust: Two Rhode Island residents were found with 5.5 kilograms of fentanyl worth $6 million in their car during a traffic stop on I-95 in Fairfield, state police said. Isaiah Roman, 19, and Arianna Spencer, 21, were both charged with sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics, state police said.
Prison term: Lori Ledonne, 54, of Norwalk, will serve three years in prison after supplying heroin to 22-year-old Kadeelyn Konstantino of Easton, who died of an overdose in February in Ledonne's Isaac Street apartment.
Contractor dies: Michael D. Borcina, the contractor who escaped a deadly fire on Christmas Day 2011 in a house in Stamford, where he was overseeing construction, has died. He was 58. Three sisters and their grandparents died in the horrific fire.
Animal abuse: Terrance Burns, 44, of Darien was arrested and charged with operating an illegal kennel out of his home where one animal died and others were subjected to abuse, unsanitary conditions and neglect, according to police.
Hit and run: A driver who fell asleep at the wheel smashed into the front of Martino's Pizza and Deli in Danbury, then took off, police said. The entire front of the business was demolished, and the interior sustained extensive damage as well.

Bridgeport murder: Jeri Kollock, 18, is Bridgeport's 21st homicide victim this year. He was forced to strip naked and remove his jewelry before he was shot seven times in the stairwell of Building 1 of the Green Homes housing complex, police said. After he was shot, Kollock fled down the stairs to the basement, where he collapsed. He dragged himself to the door over the next 45 minutes, where he emerged yelling for help. However, he died before medical help could arrive, police said.
Statues defaced: Police are investigating after statues of Christopher Columbus in Norwalk and Bridgeport were vandalized before the Columbus Day holiday. Police say the incidents may be related and may have been coordinated by an anarchist group. In Norwalk, the base of the Columbus statue was tagged with the slogan "FAKE NEWS" stenciled in white paint. The statue is part of the Heritage Wall in Thomas C. O’Connor Park on West Avenue. In Bridgeport, the statue in Seaside Park was covered with red paint and tagged with the words “Kill the Colonizer” in white paint at the base. (see photos above)
Tears for Puerto Rico: Alma Maya wiped away tears as she spoke of how she persuaded her elderly mother to leave her hurricane-ravaged home in Puerto Rico and make the journey to safety in Bridgeport. Maya was one of about 80 people who met with U.S. Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal to hear about the federal government’s response as the U.S. territory rebuilds after Hurricane Maria. Connecticut has the largest percentage of Puerto Rican residents of any state, and one-fifth of Bridgeport’s population is Puerto Rican.
