A hazardous weather outlook issued for sections of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey is expected to remain in place through the week as Tropical Storm Joaquin makes its way along the East Coast.

Forecasters said 1 to 2 inches of rain fell over much of the region overnight and into Wednesday morning with some minor flooding in urban and low-lying areas, according to the weather service.

Localized minor coastal flooding is possible Wednesday afternoon in Southern Fairfield County, along Western Long Island Sound.

High tide may be a half-foot to a foot about astronomical tides, the weather service warned.

Whether and where Joaquin will make landfall was still a source of speculation, but forecasters expect the system to continue to bring rain through at least Monday.
