After catching an afternoon screening of "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," Adriana Curtis, Grace Keating, Emma Likely and Aislinn O'Brien could not wait to call and text their friends and share their opinions. Luckily for the girls, the Bow Tie Cinema in Wilton Center is one of the few spots where cellular phones have good service.
"I try to send texts at home, and it doesn't always go through," Adriana said. Although the girls' text, email and surf the web from their cell phones, the main reason they have phones is to reach and be reached by their parents. But that's easier said than done: The girls and their parents complain of dead spots along Route 33 and of routinely dropped calls on several of the back roads in town.
Seven locations in Wilton have cell phone towers, according to the Connecticut Siting Council. The poor cell service in Wilton was a problem for Emma one day while she was at the Wilton Riding Club. She needed to call her father for a ride home. The private club, located off Olmstead Hill Road, has horrible cell service and the call could not be made. Luckily for Emma, she was able to go back to the club's barn and called her father from a landline.
