WILTON, Conn. -- Those looking to get rid of important documents or piles of personal papers will find the relief they have been looking for Saturday at Wilton Library's Shredding Day.

Wilton Library’s Shredding Day for the Community runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The day is a "great way for residents and businesses to rid themselves of those burdensome papers that carry too much personal data to just 'put out in the trash,'" representatives with the Wilton Library said in a press release.

The event also serves as a library fundraiser. City Confidential, a division of City Carting, is donating its time, truck and operators for the fundraiser to allow all proceeds to benefit the library, according to the release.

The minimum fee is $10 for a small bag or box of papers, $15 for half of a 65 gallon container and $30 to fill a full 65 gallon container. The library will be accepting cash or checks only, according to the release.

“We realized that the library had shredding needs and the more we talked about it, the more we grasped the value of it," said Elaine Tai-Lauria, Wilton Library’s executive director, in the release. "So we decided to open it to the residents and businesses in town. With City Confidential generously donating their total services to the cause, we were able to make it a fundraiser for the library.”

City Confidential’s self-contained truck will be staged in the library’s west parking lot adjacent to ABC House beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 28, according to the release.

“We really applaud what the library is doing for the community,” said Gary Fanali, VP of Sales and Marketing from City Confidential/City Carting, in the release. “When Elaine Tai-Lauria approached us with the idea, we jumped at the chance to help Wilton and the library.”

For more information and directions, residents are asked to visit the Wilton Library website or call 203-762-3950, ext. 213.
