Joan Fisher Faulkner, 103, Of Wilton, Environmentalist, Horsewoman

WILTON, Conn. - Joan Fisher Faulkner of Wilton, formerly of Greenwich, died Thursday, Sept. 11. She was 103.

Faulkner was born July 5, 1911, to Henry Johnson Fisher and Alice Agnew Fisher of Greenwich. She graduated from Greenwich Academy in 1928 and attended Wellesley College, where she graduated in 1933. She attended The Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied sculpture.

After her marriage, she lived with her husband in Greenwich until they relocated to their Wilton farm. She was a supporter of the Sierra Club, National Resources Defense Council and New York Botanical Garden. She was a member of the Vineyard Conservation Society, Wilton Garden Club, Wilton Riding Club, Edgartown Yacht Club and Martha's Vineyard Art Association.

Faulkner is survived by her brother, Everett Fisher of Greenwich; children, Lindsay Faulkner Hagen (Peter J. Hagen), Santa Fe, N.M.; Robert S. Faulkner, Manchester, Mass., Pamela Faulkner Quinn (Lawrence A. Quinn), Portsmouth, R.I., Elizabeth H. Faulkner, Warren, R.I.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, F. Sheffield Faulkner; brothers, Bennett and Agnew; and nephew, Bennett.

A service will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road (Route 106), Wilton, followed by a reception at her home, 37 Keeler's Ridge Road, Wilton.
