Stout was born May 13, 1924, the son of Lloyd and Genevieve McLaughlin Stout. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School and Ohio State University's College of Business. He was a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association and Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
He was a longtime member of the First Community Church, and past member of University Kiwanis. He was a past director of Upper Arlington Civic Association and 4th of July Parade. During the past several years, he was a volunteer at Waveny House in New Canaan. Stout is survived by his sons, Craig Williams Stout of Redding and Wes Stout (Sarah) of Wilton; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Nanciann Williams Stout.
