Margery Anderson, 86, Formerly Of Wilton, Music Teacher

NAPLES, Fla. - Margery (Botts) Anderson of Naples and Avon, Conn., formerly of Wilton, Conn., died Tuesday, Dec. 16. She was 86.

Anderson was born in Detroit and raised in Grosse Pointe, Mich., to Thomas E. and Catherine I. (Steel) Botts. She graduated with a degree in music from Whitman College (Walla Walla, Wash). She taught music in the public schools of Jesup, Ga., before moving to Wilton, Conn., in 1963 with Chuck and their three children. She also participated in many community theaters and other performance venues, both in Georgia and Connecticut. She directed the children's choir at St. Matthew's Church in Wilton and was musical director or accompanist for numerous shows at the Wilton Student Summer Playshop and in nearby Weston and New Canaan.

Anderson is survived by her husband, Charles E. "Chuck" Anderson; son, Thomas E. Anderson (Christine) of Baton Rouge, La.; daughters, Joanne E. Anderson (partner, Jerald G. Shepherd) of St. Petersburg and Patricia A. Colburn (Michael) of Simsbury; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton. The Rev. Roger O. Douglas will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
