WILTON, Conn. - Philip A. Curto of Wilton, formerly of Stamford, died Oct. 4. He was 85.
Curto was born July 6, 1929, in the Bronx, N.Y., to George and Loretta (Ippolito) Curto. In 1948, he enlisted with the U.S. Marines. He served from 1948 until 1952, during the Korean War conflict, studied Mechanical Engineering, and was discharged as master sergeant. When he returned home, he attended City College in Manhattan taking civil engineering classes. He helped his father in the roofing business while expanding into home repair and reconstruction projects. In 1967, he moved to Stamford and began a partnership building condominiums.
Curto is survived by his brother, Daniel Curto (Ann); sister, Frances Curto Lordi (Anthony); children, Dolores Curto; Debra Curto Black (Stephen), Peter Curto (Cyndi); and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main St., Ridgefield with the Rev. Dr. William B. Pfohl, senior pastor, officiating. Entombment will take place in Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, N.Y., with military honors.
