Richard Hamm, 89, Of Wilton; Retired Pilot

WILTON, Conn. – Richard F. Hamm, 89, a longtime resident of Wilton, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Norwalk Hospital.

Born in Chicago on Nov. 27, 1925, he was the son of Otto and Mary Ferneding Hamm. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and spent decades as a commercial airline pilot. He was an expert skier as well as an avid reader. He also was an uncanny puzzle solver.

Hamm is survived by his wife, Josephine Florin Hamm of Wilton. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Kenny and his parents.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 17, at noon in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project here.
