Sister Patricia Ryan, Ssnd, 90, Of Wilton

WILTON, Conn. - Sister Patricia Ryan, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Wilton, died Monday, July 28. She was 90.

Sister Ryan was born June 19, 1924, in Boston, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Ryan, who immigrated from counties Galway and Kerry in Ireland.

After pronouncing her vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame in 1949, she began teaching at St. Joseph School in New York City. She also taught at Madonna School in Fort Lee, N.J.; St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, Md.; Notre Dame Academy in St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Notre Dame Prep School in Baltimore. She also worked in the finance office at Notre Dame Prep for 20 years. She came to live at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton in 2001 and moved to Lourdes in 2011.

Sister Ryan is survived by her sister, Louise Ryan Lynch of South Yarmouth, Mass.; nieces, nephews and their families; and the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Leontia), Eileen Ryan and Geraldine (Alvinia); and brother, Father John.

Calling hours are Wednesday, July 30, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road, Wilton, with a Christian wake service at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 31, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Villa Notre Dame. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
