27-Year-Old Man Found On Private Property In Newtown Charged With Burglary

NEWTOWN, Conn. — A 27-year-old Newtown man was arrested on a burglary charge after he was found walking about on someone else's property in town at 10 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Officers responding to a complaint of a suspicious person on Brushy Hill Road found Andrew Korngiebel, of 33 Greenbriar Lane, on the property, police said. 

Korngiebel had gone into an open garage on the property and stolen an item out of a van, police said. 

He was charged with first-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, and his bond was set at $10,000. He was released for a Danbury Superior Court date of June 30.

Newtown police also discovered he was wanted in Watertown on a charge of failure to appear in court on narcotics violations in April 2016. He was released on $350 bond for a Waterbury Superior Court date of June 29.
