The first call came at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, from a victim who said that he had had two bikes stolen from the Darien Train Station at 33 West Ave., police said.
His first bicycle was stolen on Tuesday, Sept. 5, but he didn’t initially report it until he had a second bike stolen in the same manner on Sept. 11, police said.
The man told officers that he had left his bike and helmet at the train station at 6:15 a.m. Sept. 11.
The bike was locked to the rack with a combination lock, but when he returned at 6:15 p.m., the bike, lock, and helmet were gone, police said.
The bike was a 24-speed silver mountain bike with black rims and the word “Gravity” on the frame. The bike was worth around $300.
He also told officers that his mountain bike had been stolen from the train station on Sept. 5. He left that bike was at about 6:15 a.m., again locked to the rack with a combination lock, police said. When he returned at 6:15 p.m., the lock, bicycle, and helmet were gone, police said.
It was a 26-inch mountain bike, with a royal blue frame worth about $110, he told police.
The next day, Sept. 12, at 8:43 p.m. a woman told police that her husband’s bike had been stolen from the Darien Train Station sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., police said.
She told police that she and her husband ride their bikes daily to the train station. But that day, she returned before her husband and found his bike was missing from the bike rack, and his cut lock was lying on the ground, police said. Her bike was still locked to the rack.
The stolen bike was described as a red, “Specialized” brand, valued at $550, police said.
The fourth stolen bike was reported at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Noroton Heights Train Station, police said.
The victim said he had left his bike locked to a rack at the train station at 8 a.m. and returned at 6:30 p.m.
He found his bike was missing, and the lock had been cut and was lying on the ground, police said. The bike was worth about $400, police said.
An investigation is ongoing in all the stolen bike cases, police said.
