Bridgeport firefighters arrived at the burning car at Houston and Dodd avenues around 10 p.m. and found the body in the passenger seat after they suppressed the blaze, said city Communications Director Rowena White.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday morning to determine the cause of death, she said. Police are treating the case as a homicide, she said.

The car had been reported stolen out of Meriden.

Anyone with information on the car, the fire or the victim is asked to call Bridgeport police at 203-576-TIPS.
