DARIEN, Conn. — Whoever broke into a tan Prius that was parked at Darien home for two weeks might be surprised to know the burglary was caught on camera.

At 7:50 a.m. Aug. 4, Darien officers responded to 95 Leroy Ave. on a report that an unlocked vehicle had been entered, police said.

The owner of the car, a 2010 Toyota Prius with New Hampshire plates said she was in the area visiting relatives and that her car had been parked in the driveway for two weeks, police said.

That day, she discovered that the Prius had been entered, with the glove box left open and its contents strewn on the floor of the car, police said.

Nothing was taken from the car, and there was no sign of damage, police said.

But further investigation by the assigned officer turned up surveillance video from a camera system in the area, police said. It showed a vehicle pulling onto Shadbush Lane and a male suspect entering the Prius at 1:19 a.m. July 28, police said.

The police investigation is continuing. Dozens of car break-ins have been reported in recent weeks in Darien and surrounding towns.
