Police on patrol in the area of Bouton Street detected the odor of marijuana emanating from a Mazda that was stopped, according to police. When the officers approached the car, it took off, speeding through the streets as police chased it, according to police. At one point as the Mazda passed another car, one of the passengers jumped out and ran away while the car was in motion, police said.

Police managed to stop the car in the area of Robbins Square East and the three people inside all attempted to flee but were ordered back in the car, police said. The three were detained, and during a search of the car officers found a high-capacity magazine on the floor, as well as a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun, police said. They also found about four grams of marijuana, according to police.

Sean Sellers, 21, of Bridgeport was the driver and was arrested on a number of charges, including possession of a large capacity magazine, engaging in pursuit, two counts of carrying a gun without a permit and weapons in a motor vehicle, as well as several other motor vehicle charges.

Shakiem Powell, 21, of Norwalk was charged with possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of marijuana, two counts of weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a pistol and carrying a gun without a permit.

A canine was brought in to track the fourth person who fled, but was unable to find him, police said. Evidence is being collected to determine the fourth person's identity.
