The Danbury 911 center began receiving reports of a house fire at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at 43 Stadley Rough Road, fire department spokesman James Gagliardo said.
A first alarm response was dispatched immediately. Engine 23 arrived at the scene first and reported heavy amounts of smoke coming from the home, Gagliardo said.
Incident commander Capt. Joe Halas requested a second alarm and orchestrated an interior attack on the blaze in the home. Shortly thereafter, the fire was reported knocked down and the situation under control.
Danbury firefighters assisted the homeowner with locating and removing all of the pets.
All occupants and their pets are safe but will be displaced until repairs are made on the home, Gagliardo said.
The Danbury fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause. It remains ongoing.
Units on the scene included C30, C51, C61, E22, E23, E24, Truck 1, Squad 1, Engine 3, Squad 7 and Tanker 11, he said.
