Danbury Man Charged With Assaulting Woman During Street Robbery

DANBURY, Conn. -- A woman was knocked unconscious by a Danbury man who robbed her of $80 and a pack of cigarettes on a downtown Danbury street, according to the News-Times.

Police told the News-Times that 38-year-old Thomas West asked the woman for money between midnight and 1 a.m. Wednesday before he punched her in the back of the head in an alley on Bank Street. The blow knocked her unconscious, and when she regained consciousness he hit her again, the News-Times reported. He then grabbed the money and cigarettes and fled, according to the News-Times.

The woman was able to identify him by name, and he was found later that night, according to the News-Times. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, breach of peace and third-degree assault, the News-Times reported.
