Officers from the Wilton Police Department were dispatched to Breeds Hill Place shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday, April 20, where there was a complaint of suspicious solicitors who were making the rounds in the neighborhood, going door-to-door.

Upon arrival at the scene, police made contact with Danbury resident Jared Dement - who recently moved to Fairfield County from Texas - who was allegedly in possession of possession of a loaded handgun in his vehicle without a legal New York permit.

Police said that Dement was not in possession of a valid pistol permit and was in possession of high capacity magazines that were not registered. Dement was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and possession of a large capacity magazine.

Following arraignment, Dement was released on $5,000 bond. He is due in Norwalk Superior Court on April 30 to answer the charges.
