Fairfield Man Charged In Bad Checks Case At Wilton Market

WILTON, Conn., -- A Fairfield man is accused of passing five bad checks totaling about $445 at the Village Market in Wilton over the course of a couple of weeks in late May through early June, Wilton police said.

The check scheme ended in early June when Village Market ownership went to police about the bad checks.

Jason Turoczi, 33, of 63 Tide Mill Terrace in Southport turned himself in to police Sunday. He was charged with three counts each of forgery and identity theft and five counts each of issuing a bad check and larceny. He was given a bond of $5,000 and will appear in court on July 22.

Police said that on five different occasions, Turoczi wrote two checks out of a closed bank account that belonged to him and forged three checks from his mother's checking account to pay for groceries at the Village Market.

The amounts were for $62, $81, $97, $100 and $105, police said.
