Smalls, 22, and Alston, 27, were found dead in a car parked on Avenue B in Norwalk on Aug. 6, 2011. They had been shot to death by residents of the neighborhood at 7:48 a.m., and while police initially speculated that it might have been a murder-suicide, their deaths were later ruled a double homicide.

The Norwalk Police Department and the families of Smalls and Alston held a press conference on Monday to make a public plea that anyone with information on the murders contact investigators.

The State of Connecticut is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths.

In video of Monday's news conference published by Nancy on Norwalk, the mothers of Smalls and Alston fight through tears to ask the public for help.

"She's not just a girl that was found dead in her car, she's my daughter and she was truly loved and she is truly missed," said Notassha Smalls, mother of Rickita Smalls. "I just ask that anyone that has any information to please come forward and have justice for my daughter and Iroquois."

"I am so lost for words, like it just happened yesterday," said April Alston, mother of Iroquois Alston. "No mother should have to go through this. I'm begging the public, I'm begging that anyone that has information on the killing of our kids, please call in."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Norwalk Detectives at 203-854-3011 or the Connecticut Cold Case Hotline at 866-623-8058.
